Silkroad’s Global Musician Workshop
I had the great honour of teaching at the Silkroad’s Global Musician Workshop at DePauw University. The faculty included Yo-Yo Ma, Sarah Jarosz (American folk), Sandeep Das (Indian tabla), Kaoru Watanabe (Japanese flutes), Hadi Eldebek (Arabic oud), Shane Shanahan (world percussion), Balla Kouyate (Malian balafon), Edward Perez (Afro-Latin bass), Hanneke Cassel (Scottish fiddle), and Mike Block (multi-style strings). With 85 participants from around the world, we spent a week making music, making friends, reaching across cultures, and celebrating diversity.
